#10 - The Beginning

What better place to start? I truly believe that Mark and I were meant to be together. There were too many random events that led us into our initial friendship. I started my college career in Wichita Falls and one day after breaking up with a boyfriend I went out to buy some new roller blades. I am pretty sure I was exerting my power as an "Independent Woman" since physical activity as "fun" has never really been my thing.

When I got home I went out roller blading around the block. At some point a friend of my ex-boyfriend drove by and waved. I waved back and was incredibly thankful that simple act didn't throw me off balance and send me sprawling to the ground. One day when I was leaving for class, I walked out of my house and a note fell on the ground. The note, which was torn off the back of a little pocket notebook, invited me to go rollerblading sometime and was signed by Mark. Mark? Hmmm... Mark? Who do I know named Mark? It took me a little while to remember the guy that had driven by while I was out roller blading a few days before.

It took us a while to get our schedules in sync and much, much longer to realize we were meant for each other. That note definitely started the ball rolling though. I still have it and I smile every time I come across it. The roller blades? I can't remember if I ever used them again. Ironically, they are the reason Mark left the note in the first place since he is an avid roller blader. See? It was definitly fate!

I'm not sure I've heard that story before. Or maybe I've just forgotten in the last 10+ years. You know, Greg and I first spent time together rollerblading too. And I also have probably not rollerbladed since.
