So Much To Do

Mark and I have finally succumbed to the realization that we have a lot to do in the next 3 1/2 months. We spent the weekend being very productive. We FINALLY picked some paint colors for a few of the rooms in the house (the baby's room included). Of course, we are still not in agreement on some of the other rooms so we are thinking maybe we will just wait to paint those... there is really no pressure (other than what we place on ourselves).

We also did lots of furniture shopping. For those of you that have been to the house lately, you know that our decorating style is what we fondly call Mediterranean Minimalist / Zen. Some of this is intentional and some is achieved by the lack of furniture that is rampant throughout our home. We have what we need but not much more... So, yesterday we went to get the living room furniture that we have been wanting for months. How exciting! Now people will actually have a couple of seating options when they come to visit instead of having to sit directly next to us on the couches or on the floor.

We have also been on the hunt for baby furniture. You know, it is not an easy thing to find affordable baby furniture that is of decent quality. There are quite a few options for inexpensive cribs but when you actually see them, they look like they might topple if you bump into them very hard. After a few frustrations yesterday and the help of the "Baby Bargains" book that Sarah recommended, I ran across the JcPenney website this morning. They have a great selection of items at really reasonable prices! We took a trip to the JcPenney outlet this morning to make sure the construction was good on their baby items and ended up ordering our crib and dresser / changing table this afternoon. We saved so much money that we were able to get some bedroom furniture for ourselves as well! (Did I mention our lack of furniture throughout the house?)

I still feel like we have a lot to do but we are at least a little bit closer to where we need to be before the baby comes. We have a plan for the nursery and have a "rough" plan for some of the other areas around the house that we have been dragging our feet on. The next step is to order Brad's mural that I mentioned in one of my previous posts. A few of you have asked about it so I have included it below so you can get an idea of what we are doing. The colors in the baby's room will be pulled from the mural. Thanks Brad!
