I hate that I have been so lax in posting lately... it has just been so very busy the last few weeks. Mom got in to town last Tuesday evening which set off a whirlwind of activity. Mark and I had our check-up appointment on Wednesday with Dr. Maxey and everything looked great. In fact, he said that Great has caught up a bit on the growth charts. He was never far behind but Dr. Maxey seemed pleased with his progress. We are still hoping to get to that 38 week marker (I am 32 weeks right now). Our next appointment will be on the 16th.
Sarah, Greg and the boys got in to town on Wednesday evening and we were able to visit with Sarah a bit that night even though she had a long drive that day. Dad and Grandma Dottie arrived in town on Friday so they came over with Lynn that night to hang out and eat pizza (mmmm... pizza...). All of our spare time was spent trying to finish getting the house ready for the shower on Saturday night and just getting ready for the shower in general. Mom was so helpful in getting stuff done around the house (thank you again Mom!). And we finally finished our "project" list ~ at least for a little while. Of course, we didn't actually finish everything until a few hours before the party but I think it all turned out OK.
Sarah was the party planner (and did an absolutely amazing job as always) but so many people helped in different ways. Mark and I both feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family that contributed in making it a really special night for us. It was great to have everyone with us to celebrate our little Great! The decorations were beautiful, the food was awesome ~ we had the most amazing cake ever thanks to Aunt Lynn ~ and we had the best present "helpers" ever. Griffin and Brooks helped us pick up and open all of the presents. It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it now. I really couldn't have asked for a better night. We actually have baby stuff now... I guess we really are going to have a real live baby soon, huh? The reality of it is still kind of hard to comprehend.
Anyway, as they say, "all good things must come to an end," and sure enough ~ everyone had to head home on Sunday. We got Mom to the airport around 10:30 that morning and stopped for a quick breakfast on the way home. We arrived home at about 12:00 and I am fairly sure I was asleep by about 12:45. I did not wake up until 6:00. I was so tired, but it was a good tired.
Sister, I never know how to express how much I love you and appreciate everything you do for me. Thank you again for everything this weekend! And again, thank you so much to everyone else for your part in our shower and for the beautiful gifts for our little one. It is so nice to know that our baby is surrounded by such love even before he gets here.
