Which is what the zoo is called in the fabulous Garmin GPS System that we got with the rental car... It was worthy of the title too. The weather was a little rainy, we were all a little sick, Milo was a little grouchy but
darn it we were not going to let those "little" things get us down.
If memory serves, this was a pygmy hippo. I thought it was one of the coolest animals we saw. Milo liked it too! In fact, he liked it so much that he threw a full-on tantrum when we got ready to move on to the next exhibit. You know, in 2-year-old world, there is really no good reason to leave a perfectly good pygmy hippo exhibit.
Of course, the pandas are one of the reasons for the "famous." You had to queque up and walk in line to see them. What amazed me was that we had a group of about 15 little kids behind us and they actually obeyed the "Quiet Please" signs as we all walked past the pandas.
They had polar bears too. Sadly, this is the best picture we got in the polar bear area since it decided to start pouring right about then.
Ah, no more rain (at least for a few minutes). The momentarily clear skies gave us the chance to cozy up to the many photo opportunities located all around the zoo.
Milo was not diggin' this little girl infringing on his photo op. He had already stared a few kids down to gain possession of the cat. He was not in much of a sharing mood.
"Mommy, she is touching my cat... MOMMY!? Why is she touching my cat!?
I remember taking so many pictures like this when we were kids. Mark and I couldn't let Milo have all the fun though.
I think it was right about then that it began raining again. We started heading back to the car but we were on the far end of the park so got to see a bunch of cool stuff on our way out. We grabbed our obligatory stuffed panda and then we said goodbye to The World Famous San Diego Zoo and headed back to paradise (or more specifically Paradise Point... the topic of my final vacation blog post which is coming soon).
