Just to give you an idea of the types of things that send our little guy over the edge lately, I thought I would recount what his major upset was this morning on the way to NiNi's... On the way out of the house, Milo grabbed one of his "letter" books to read in the car on the way. As we were driving down the road, I could hear him start to get worked up and then he began shrieking "I can't find my page! I can't find my page!" I guess he was looking for a certain page with the desired letter of the alphabet on it and the pages were sticking together.
Lately, this type of thing signals the beginning of a downward spiral into a tantrum. Obviously, I can't do much about it when I am driving so the best remedy is for me to immediately put in one of his favorite CDs. Thankfully he has pretty good taste in music so this is a good fix for both of us!
One other cute example happened last night. Though he wouldn't eat dinner he wanted a popsicle for dessert. I explained to him that he couldn't have a popsicle if he didn't eat any of his food. On his way out of the kitchen, he assumed that stance of disgruntled toddlers everywhere with his head back and a mock cry etched on his face. Dragging his feet behind him, he walked over to his toys and told them, "I'm soooo sad!"
