Bye Bye Beat Beat Bye Bye

So... Milo's pacifier began as the binky, transitioned to the "B" at some point finally and settled as the "beat beat." The beat beat has been a steady fixture in the Warrior household for over 2 1/2 years. Until now.

On Friday we began what I was sure would be a traumatic weekend by explaining to Milo that since he is becoming a big boy he can now only have his beat beat at night or during naps. He cried a little at first and then was pretty much OK from that point on. He asked for it a few times over the weekend but never got too upset when he couldn't have it. Just goes to show our kids are often capable of much more than we give them credit for.

So last night I am washing dishes and I have some music cranked up -- it happened to be "Good Times" by Chic.

My 10 year old son Tommy was kind of digging it and asked me who it was, etc. I then went on to tell him about how the track was used in one of the first rap songs, "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang, and how I could vividly remember my friend, Mark Warrior playing it for me on a 45 record over at his house when we were in 3rd or 4th grade.

That of course led me to a little nostalgia-induced Googling, and well, here I am. Mark: it appears as though life has been good to you, and that makes me happy. Consider this a shout-out from the John J. Pershing days.
