Checking In

I am going to use these last few blissfully quiet moments of Milo's naptime to check in... see what a devoted blogger I am?! There hasn't been much going on lately - at least nothing terribly exciting. Milo is getting more and more independent every day. Now when I get him out of his car seat he immediately starts squirming to get down so he can walk into the house himself. He loves his sippy cup and often carries it around with him from place to place. I find this very appropriate since I invariably have a cup of ice water within a 3 foot radius of wherever I am in the house. Sarah and I are both like this and picked it up from Mom when we were kids. In fact, Milo was "helping" me clean house yesterday and I gave him an empty cup (to try to occupy him for a few seconds while I put the clean dishes up). Anyway, he went over to the refrigerator and slammed the cup into the frig door in an attempt to get ice out of it since I always put ice in his sippy cup for him. It made me laugh. He has a knack for doing that lately.

Mark and I are both doing well. Mark has started (assistant) coaching a local kids soccer club team. He is really enjoying it and I can tell he is glad to get back into that side of the sport. He still plays himself even though he has injuries more often now. He has occasional back trouble because of it and he is just coming off a couple of bad weeks. He is feeling better now though.

I am in full-on study mode again. Almost every spare minute I have at lunch during the week and after Milo is asleep at night and on the weekends I try to use for studying for my LEED AP. As I have said before, I am a professional student so I actually enjoy the process. It definitely keeps me busy though. I take the test in October and I would really like to only take it once. We will see... I know several people that have had to take it 4+ times. I would truly love to avoid that.

In conclusion, how could I not mention the Olympics?! How cool is Michael Phelps? We watched him win his 8th Gold Medal last night and I think the best thing about it is that he is such a truly nice guy that had a goal and worked incredibly hard to reach that goal. Dara Torres is awesome too. Can you imagine winning a medal in your 40s? And with a 2 year-old baby? All of the US Olympians have been so genuine and inspiring this year.

Oh, the little man is moving around. I better go up and grab him. Have a good week everyone!
