We had our check-up yesterday and everything went very well. Our sweet little boy is growing big and strong... he gained just over a pound since our last appointment 3 weeks ago which puts him at exactly 3 pounds now. We had another sonogram. I swear, this kid is the most watched child ever (other than Suri Cruise maybe... didn't Tom and Katie buy a sonogram machine to keep at their house while she was pregnant?). Anyway, everything looks really good with him. He is moving around a bunch and there is plenty of amniotic fluid in there with him which something they watch closely with my condition... disorder... (I am never sure what word to use. Disorder seems much too serious a word.) His abdomen is still lagging behind in development by about 3 weeks but the ratio hasn't changed much at all. This is normal with "Heparin" babies but it is definitely something to monitor. Dr. Maxey said that he is just going to continue to watch it closely to make sure the ratio does not get worse. We are now going to 2 week appointments so we can keep a close eye on everything.
Obviously, we would rather be having a perfectly normal pregnancy but I feel so fortunate that we are having a baby now and not 50 years ago because we likely would not have been able to have a baby at all at that time. (Most of the time) I know that everything will happen just as it should and we probably won't even remember these worries 5 years from now. For now, it is enough to feel the little one kicking around and growing in my belly and to know that we have a wonderful Doctor watching out for us.
