Our Nation's Capital

A few weeks ago I got to go to Washington DC as part of my role on the board with our local IREM (Institute for Real Estate) Chapter. This is the first of 3 years that I will attend the Leadership and Legislative Summit and there was only one negative - I did not get to take Mark and Milo with me.  I have only been to DC one other time and I pretty much stayed inside one house the whole time (a story for another day) so I was really excited to see the city.

The 100th Anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival coincided with the trip; however, like everywhere else, DC had next to no winter so almost all the cherry blossoms were long gone. I found a few little stragglers to document though and I got the obligatory t-shirt!

Our hotel was awesome! It was literally right in the middle of the city and as I would find out, it was two blocks from the White House and right in between the Capital and the Lincoln Memorial.

It was a conference so it was no vacation but it was incredibly handy that the seminars were in the same hotel so it was really easy to run back up to the room or go for a quick walk around the city in between sessions.

One of my favorite things when I travel is to go exploring in the city. I have happened upon some of the coolest things when I am just out wandering around. Washington DC is chock full of cool things to see so the city definitely did not disappoint!  I have lots more to share so stay tuned.
