Milo continues his steady march toward little-boydom. You can see him trying on certain words and phrases to see how they fit and to see whether or not they get their desired result. One of his most creative times right now is during bedtime. Lynn watched him a few weeks ago for Mark's Christmas party and she told us later that Milo started calling out repeatedly after he had been in bed for a few minutes. When she went in to check on him he said "Good morning!" and held out his arms to her. After she reminded him that it was not in fact morning, he again said "Good morning!" Like maybe he could convince her if he was adamant enough...
And then last night after he was "tuck-tucked" into bed, he started calling out to me with the constant refrain of "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy" (you get the picture). I went up to see what was going on and as I walked in he said, "Mommy, where is Roff?" and then he started looking around the room going "Roff Roff, where arrrre you?" Roff Roff?" When I located Roff (who was in plain sight I might add) and handed him over , Milo threw him back down, turned his back and started over again... "Roff Roff, where arrrre you?"
I started laughing and Milo looked at me, as serious as can be and said, "What is so funny?" That made me laugh harder as I told him, "Buddy, you are so funny." That got a "Milo is funny?" from him punctuated by him fake-laughing like he was totally in on the joke.
He sings all the time now and was into his 3rd round of Jingle Bells last night before Mark and I realized we have not been singing that at the house. He still loves the ABC song as well as Row, Row, Row Your Boat and is in to mixing them up now with the help of Daddy. He was belting them out last night accompanied by his new guitar (or t-tar) from Papa. Finally, we think Lanita taught him about knock-knock jokes recently because he loves to throw out a random "knock, knock" anytime there is a lull in conversation. We go through the whole process but haven't quite understood the punchline yet despite many (many) repetitions. He seems to know what he is saying though and I am sure we will pick it up eventually (definitely have to ask NiNi for an explanation).
