My sweet 2-year-old boy. It is the mantra of mommies everywhere that time flies. Just yesterday you were this precious, beautiful little angel of a baby. You were so small (for at least the first few weeks) and now you are a precious, beautiful (mommies can say that!) ball of toddler energy that gives us so much joy every single day.
In honor of your 2nd birthday, I thought I would catalog some current events.
- You have gotten so tall in recent months and everyone loves your hair. Strangers continually come up to you and rub their hands through your hair and it doesn't seem to bother you at all.
- Happily, you got the sleeping gene from both Mommy and Daddy. Also, you normally don't like it when we look directly at you right after you have woken up.
- You continually amaze us with your memory of letters and numbers. You have started recognizing / reading certain words: cup, clap, head, mouth, baby, cat and dog (at which you normally either meow or bark) and just yesterday you read the word elephant. You are such a smart little boy.
- "Art" is your favorite activity right now. Anything that involves a pen and paper, markers or paint is considered "art." We are working to make sure you understand "art" does not involve the walls of the house.
- When we tried to repeatedly teach you to answer "2!" to the question "How old are you?," you looked at us blankly, we prompted "2!" and you continually responded "3, 4!"
- More often than not you say "thank you" which I think may be the sweetest words to come out of your mouth on a regular basis.
- You aren't a snuggler but you tolerate my kisses throughout the day and when I ask for one back you kiss me on the lips and go "mmmmm-ahhh!"
Milo, I am not that mommy that longs for the time when you were a baby. I loved that time but I love this time more. I secretly cheer for you when you yell "No!" because you are becoming your own person (OK... most of the time I cheer for you). You still my heart and give both me and your Daddy so much happiness. Happy 2nd Birthday Milo! We are so glad to have you in our lives.
