Sleeping Through the Night

I hesitate to put this down in type but Milo has been truly sleeping through the night for the last week or so. I find it amusing that doctors and baby books consider sleeping 5 hours straight to be "sleeping through the night." I don't know about you but I prefer to sleep more than 5 hours at a stretch... Anyway, if we feed Milo at about 10:00 he will officially sleep all night and even through the ride to his Aunt Lanita's house each weekday morning (most nights anyway).

Speaking of Milo's milestones... He is officially in 6 month clothes now (and even some of those are tight). How crazy is that? I found this out the hard way this weekend when I bought him some 3 month clothes, took them home, they were too small, I tried to return them and, of course, the clothes had been on sale so the store would not take them back. If you know me very well you know that I am "frugal" when it comes to clothes. Mark has purchased anything in my closet that is really nice. Therefore, it bugged me the rest of the day that I had wasted money on those clothes. I have pretty much decided at this point that I am going to "buy big" for him. I would rather him have a little room to grow and get at least some use out of the clothes than spend money on stuff he will literally wear once. I realize I have a limited time period in which to implement this policy... For instance, I won't make him wear clothes that are too big for him once he starts kindergarten!

We had another enjoyable weekend. I always love Friday afternoon because it means that I get to spend two whole days with my little one. Milo and I went to the grocery store today while Mark was at his soccer game and we were walking the aisles. I was chatting to him as we walked around and I had this sudden realization that I really love being Milo's mommy. I am so lucky to have such a little sweetie! I just adore everything about him.

Anyway, speaking of the little sweetie or as I call him "my little sweet sweet," here are some pictures of him that I took this weekend.

How cute is this?

I have noticed that Milo is becoming much more aware of his surroundings in the last week or so. Up until recently he really did not direct his eyes to one place for long or maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds at a time. There were several times this weekend that I would look down and have this penetrating gaze staring right back up at me.

Finally, I just think this is too funny! This is our / my dog Scratch. (Mark was a club DJ back in the day and still plays music for himself, me and Milo. I like to say that he is my own personal DJ. Our other dog's name is DJ and "Scratch" is a phrase from that genre as well ~ just in case you were wondering.) Both of our dogs are a little unusual but Scratch is just weird sometimes. When she is finished doing her business outside she will frequently jump up and sit very calmly in the patio chairs right outside the windows. Generally she will sit and look in at the living room and patiently wait for us to let her back in the house. Sometimes, however, she will sit in the chair looking out at the yard, up at the birds, etc. What a weirdo!

I can't believe Milo is getting so big!! I feel like I have missed so much. And congrats on the sleeping through the night... that is major!!! I can't wait to see y'all soon!

Oh and I definitely wasted lots of clothes with Griffin. He'd grow out of them in length after he wore them only a few times, but at least I got to use them again with Brooks! There's some motivation for you to have another one!

Love you,
Sarah

He is absolutely beautiful! I cannot believe how BIG he's getting- and sleeping through the night, that's like the best gift to a new mom EVER. What a sweet boy!

Clothes tip: my sister and I catch end-of-season sales and buy for the next year. We give ourselves a huge pat on the back for being frugal, and then go waste some money on a Starbucks.
