Four

My sweet boy. You are four! How did that happen? OK... clearly I know how it happened but it truly does seem like just yesterday that we held you in our arms for the very first time. What a cliche right? But now I understand why people say it.

Milo, watching you grow up is such a gift. I cannot tell you how often your daddy and I look at each other and shake our heads in amazement at something you have said or some question you ask. I am only half joking when I tell you that you are 4 going on 30. One day recently you sat down next to me and started speaking French AND you corrected me when I said the words incorrectly, telling me to "Try again". Your ability to recall is actually kind of amazing. I think that is one of the reasons why you are reading at such a young age - that and the fact that you love puzzles and for you, words and sentences are a puzzle. The best gift you can get is a new book and once received, you will carry that book around with you for days.

You love to sing and usually sing to yourself all day. It always makes me smile when I turn on a song and you say, "Oh Mommy! That is my FAVORITE song!" You have lots of favorites, sweet boy. It only takes once for you to get the tune of a song and I love to listen to the "words" you sing before you know the actual words.

Because you are an only, you are a fairly solitary child but you enjoy your friends at school and you always look forward to meeting new "friends" when we are out and about. In fact, a few weekends ago, you and I were playing and I think you had gotten bored with me because you said, "Mommy, I need to go to playcare (the place we take you on the weekends if we want to go see a movie)." When I asked why, you said, "Because I need to meet a new friend."

You are a huge fan of the iPad and will usually choose that over watching TV. That said, Word World is still your favorite show (I think it has been for well over a year now) though you have asked for some others on occasion (Wow Wow Wubzy, Between the Lions and A Little Curious are the main choices). The iPad is still your number one selection though. Some of your favorite apps include Puzzle Planet and math games but you also love Bakery Story which you and I play together.

The most important thing is that you are a happy, sweet, polite (most of the time) little boy. You are quick to smile and laugh and you give hugs and "I love you"s freely - though you still try to wipe off my kisses. Milo, I love the person that you are becoming. I am so thankfully that I am your mommy. Happy Birthday my love!
