Our Fair Day

We finally got excited to take Milo to the Texas State Fair this year. The fact that he no longer runs away from us into a crowd was a huge determining factor. We invited Uncle Brad along for the big day. We weren't quite brave enough to go on the weekend though so we all took the day off and went on the final Thursday before closing weekend.

Our first stop was the car show. The day didn't really start out well...

But things turned around pretty quickly after we had a snack. Milo spotted this cupcake across the crowded room and was so intent on it that we just couldn't say no.

That much sugar was bound to give Milo a fairly serious energy boost!

Ah, sugar high! Now it is time to have some fun!

One of our first stops was the kiddie area. I am not a huge fan of rides and Mom likes to tell how I gave her the evil eye as a child when she put me on some teacup ride. I pretty much still feel the same and make it a policy not to ride rides. Ever. (Yes, I am a ball of fun at Six Flags.)Mark on the other hand can ride the craziest ride 20 times in a row. I was wondering which side of the family tree Milo would come down on...

Happily Milo shares Mark's ride enthusiasm so Brad and I were good spectators while Mark and Milo had lots of fair ride fun.

We saw some really cool animals...

We ate a disgusting amount of food (mmmmm... fried peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwiches... my favorite!)

And roasted corn. Yum. As you can see, Milo was a big fan.

After we gorged ourselves, Mark and Milo had much more fun on the rides. Check out Milo's arms on the roller coaster! Mark is teaching him well!

Our final treat was the Skyway which gives you a birds-eye view of the Fair and downtown Dallas. It also gets you closer to the exit which is a huge plus at that point in the day.

Here is our obligatory "I was there" shot. We had such a great time and loved spending the day with Brad. We all really thought we would wear ourselves out in a few hours but we were going for well over 6 hours. We got our fill (literally and figuratively!) and left happy. I sense the beginning of an annual tradition!
